Over the next several months, construction will be carried out on Calamo Street between Ridgeway Drive and Spring Road. These improvements will result in extended periods of road closures and detours. Access to driveways and homes for all residents and emergency services will be maintained throughout the project; however, thru traffic will not be allowed access.

The first phase of the project is underway, with construction starting at the intersection of Calamo Street and Ridgeway Drive, and continuing east down Calamo Street. During this time, a detour will be setup with signage and all residents will be required to enter and exit Calamo Street from Spring Road.

CONTINUOUS DETOUR BEGINNING JUNE 2ND

Starting June 2nd, the detour on Calamo Street will be in place continuously (24 hours a day/7 days a week) and will remain in place until September 2025. The continuous closure will allow us to expedite the project completion. Our typical work hours will start at 7:00 AM and continue throughout the day. There is no night work planned at this time.

The continuous closure will be set up similarly to the temporary closures currently used for this project. During construction the detour may be modified and you will be notified in advance of any changes.

We will continue coordinating with property owners within the detour area
to ensure safe and continuous access to all affected properties. Emergency vehicle access has been planned for, including provisions for trench crossings if necessary. Additionally, we have worked with the Fairfax County School Safety Team and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue to ensure smooth school bus operations and emergency vehicle access. We will be in regular contact with Republic Services, US Postal Services, and Local/State Police to ensure their services are not disrupted.
