Project Work Update – August 7th

Through End of August: Calamo Street Completion

We are currently performing final cleanup and stabilization work on Calamo Street.

Daily flagging operations will continue in the intersection of Calamo Street and Spring Road for approximately the next 3 weeks while this work is completed.

Beginning Early September – Spring Road Construction Begins

Once work is complete on Calamo Street, it will be reopened.

At that time, a section of Spring Road will be closed for construction. This will be a continuous 24-hour closure lasting approximately 6 weeks.

We will provide additional notice as soon as the reopening date for Calamo Street and the closure date for Spring Road are confirmed.

Repaving

After all construction is complete, we will repave:

Calamo Street from Ridgeway Drive to Spring Road
The section of Spring Road disturbed by construction

We currently anticipate completing paving by end of October. Once paving dates have been finalized, we will provide additional information.

Calamo Branch Stream Construction

Beginning next week, initial construction activities will start along the Calamo Branch stream, located in the wooded area west of Ridgeway Drive. This construction is expected to continue through the end of 2026.

Other Upcoming Work in the Area

The following projects are not being performed by Weider Contracting, and we do not have schedule or timeline information for them:

VDOT Culvert Replacement: Replacement of the existing stream culvert crossing from approximately 7203 Calamo Street to the intersection of Calamo Street and Spring Road.
Gas Line Replacement: Gas line replacement work on Calamo Street following completion of our project.

Work Update for Week of October 27th

During the week of October 27^th, the continuous detour will remain in place. Until further notice, only residents will be allowed to access Calamo Street. As the construction progresses and entrance changes are needed, we will continue to communicate any changes with the residents individually.

Our typical work hours will begin at 7:00 AM and continue to approximately 5:00 PM. We will continue to use steel plates to cover the excavation areas at the end of the day. Please always proceed through the work area with care and drive with caution at all times. We strive to create an environment that is safe for you, your neighbors, and our employees.

Progress and Work Update for Week of September 22nd

Our current work location is about halfway down Calamo Street between Ridgeway Drive and Spring Road. We have arranged with 7211-7216 Calamo St. to begin entering from Ridgeway Drive and 7201-7209 Calamo St. will continue to enter from Spring Rd. As we progress further towards Spring Road the continuous detour will be reassessed, and you will be notified in advance of any upcoming changes.

We will continue to use steel plates to cover the excavation areas at the end of the day. Please always proceed through the work area with care and drive with caution at all times. We strive to create an environment that is safe for you, your neighbors, and our employees.

Work Update for Week of September 15th

During the week of September 15th, the continuous detour will remain the same. Until further notice, all access from Ridgeway Drive is closed and only residents will be allowed to use Spring Road to access Calamo Street. Please refer to the detour map below.
