Important Work Update for Week of June 2nd

The continuous detour will go into effect on Monday, June 2^nd and will remain in place until September 2025. Until further notice, all access from Ridgeway Drive is closed and only residents will be allowed to use Spring Road to access Calamo Street. Please refer to the detour map below.

Our typical work hours will begin at 7:00 AM and continue to approximately 5:00 PM. As the construction progresses the detour may be modified, and we will communicate in advance of any changes.

We will continue to use steel plates to cover the excavation areas at the end of the day. Please always proceed through the work area with care and drive with caution at all times. We strive to create an environment that is safe for you, your neighbors, and our employees.

Work Update for Week of May 26th

Next week there will not be any construction on Calamo Street on Monday in observance of Memorial Day but work will resume on Tuesday. The detours will remain the same next week during the allowable lane closure hours of approximately 9:00 AM to 3:30PM. No daytime access will be available to Calamo Street through the Ridgeway Drive intersection. All local traffic will need to use the entrance on Spring Road. At the end of each day the roadway excavation will be protected by steel plates.

Beginning June 2^nd, the detour on Calamo Street will be in place continuously for 24 hours a day/7 days a week. This continuous detour will remain in place until September 2025. This will allow us to expedite the project completion as our typical work hours will begin around 7:00 AM and continue throughout the day. There is no night work planned at this time.

The continuous closure will be set up very similar to the temporary closures that are currently being used for this project. A map is attached to this email showing where residents should access Calamo Street beginning on June 2nd. As the construction progresses down Calamo Street, the detour may be modified and you will be notified in advance of any changes and a new map will be distributed.

We will continue coordinating with property owners within the detour area to ensure safe and continuous access to all affected properties. Emergency vehicle access has been planned for, including provisions for trench crossings if necessary. Additionally, we have worked with the Fairfax County School Safety Team and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue to ensure smooth school bus operations and emergency vehicle access. We will be in regular contact with Republic/Evergreen/Bates Disposal Services, US Postal Services, and Local/State Police to ensure their services are not disrupted.

Work Update for Week of March 31st

During the week of March 31st, we will complete the temporary bypass installation and begin the sanitary sewer main pipe replacement work. The sanitary sewer work will begin on Calamo Street directly east of the Ridgeway Drive intersection. Over the next several months we will continue working east on Calamo Street with the replacement work. Daily detours will be installed during the allowable lane closure hours of approximately 9:00AM to 3:30PM. No daytime access will be available to Calamo Street through the Ridgeway Drive intersection. All local traffic will need to use the entrance on Spring Road. At the end of each day the roadway excavation will be protected by steel plates.
